Water shortage hits parts of Kumasi following Owabi Plant shutdownGhana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply to Abuakwa District and several surrounding communities in the Ashanti Region, following the shutdown of the Owabi Water Treatment Plant.

In a press release dated January 27, 2026, GWL explained that the plant was temporarily shut down at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 26.
