Shabana Mahmood statement is blow to Craig Guildford’s chances of remaining West Midlands police chief constable

The home secretary has said she has lost confidence in the West Midlands chief constable after a “damning” report into a ban on Israeli fans from a football game in Birmingham.

The inquiry, which was ordered by Shabana Mahmood and carried out by the policing inspectorate His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, found the force made a series of errors in how it gathered and handled intelligence.
